Anthology

Overview

This is was my first iteration of a repeated project.
See my second iteration from 2014 -- Ygol Ohtna. See my third iteration from 2015 -- Enormous Ears. See my fourth iteration from 2016 -- The BSE.

During spring 2013, Room 2 students read and discussed over ten books written by various children’s authors, including
Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch, Koala Lou by Mem Fox, and Some Dog! by Mary Casanova. They used these works to inform their understanding of the elements of fiction, including character, setting, and plot, as well as to get a sense of different styles of writing. Throughout the process, students documented story components in order to look for trends across the work of various authors. In addition to the elements of fiction, students sought to include the most essential elements of fiction in each of their own stories, which were published as individual hardcover books and later together as an anthology for sale on Amazon.
